A Heartbroken Story for Alex – Sascha Zverev in Roland Garros 2024…

I remember as if it happened yesterday the final match of US Open 2020 when Alexander Sascha Zverev was fighting against Dominic Thiem such as just after the match I noted that:  

“Passed away like wind… US Open 2020 tennis tournament has just closed the courts by a “heartbroken story” … I had tears in my eyes… almost about crying because of witnessing again and again how “pressure” could engulf creativity and confidence… the crucial question of “Who I am” thereby let to understand enigma to get rid of the pressure unless: Once you figure out the crucial question of “Who I am” there will be no any Dorian to prevent the way…”

Years by years Zverev grow up and managed to deal with pressure, “demagogies shown during the game by his opponents”, non – sensical accusations… by inquiring his specificity among the other players…The result of it and of his hard-working, in Roland Garros 2022 he reached high moment in his game nevertheless this time unexpected injury blocked his way through to get the grand slam championship…. Therefore, unfortunately, Zverev had to retire not only for that match but also entire of that season… and he had to rebegin after the injury period to access his rhythm again… It was not such easy because the next gen has already begun to play high level tennis crowning with championship… In this context, Zverev’s job was getting harder…

Nevertheless, Zverev, who is also diabetic, managed to come back to his rhythm again such that in Rome 2024 he crowned his return to the courts with championship then after as French says it is like a “déjà vu!” he came into the match with Rafael Nadal in Roland Garros 2024 reminding Heraclitus time…which illustrates / proves that time flows spiral and circular and it depends on our ability to get rid of the same circumstances…. The journey of Zverev brings me to the door of Hermann Hesse from whose novel Siddhartha I can recapitulate Zverev’s case as :

“Well, Govinda, are we on the right road? Are we gaining knowledge? Are we approaching salvation? Or are we perhaps going in circles — we who thought to escape from the cycle?”.

By his look confident and calm, Zverev incarnates in a way idyllic his “salvation” from pressure, demagogies, accusations… such as Zverev manage to cultivate ball with his spin, very well constructs the points, moves very quickly and sustainable, shortly he illustrate fantastically how to dictate / construct every point as if playing chess…

Although, Zverev’s journey throughout the Roland Garros 2024 was not easy, he manage to recover himself for the next round such as after his victory of quarter final, Zverev gives the crucial trace of his return as :

“You recover in the off-season, and you do the work in the off-season that tennis becomes easy. And I think for me, I have a mindset that you have to work harder than everyone else to be the best player and I think the best players are all doing that. For me, I like to work to my absolute limit and, if I do that, then playing five sets, all of a sudden, is not that difficult. And, I mean, I’ve been doing that over many, many years now and I’m happy it’s paying off, still paying off and I’m happy to be in another semi – final. Hopefully I can win one.”

As a result, it is evident that consistency, hardworking, discipline and recognizing own specificity to deal with all kinds of unexpected moments are the key crucial to success and also to salvation from the repetition of same circles…

Nevertheless, Zverev could not get out of the repetition of same circles because at the end of the final match he gave up…

Hope that next time Zverev get what he well deserves….

Waiting for Roland Garros 2024…

It was the beginning of 2011, and I had a chance to have my PhD degree in France where I was dreaming to live for short term since my childhood! In my 30^th ages I made it realized! And in my “to do list” there were Roland Garros and rebegin to play tennis… but unfortunately, I could realize none of them, because of non sensical “violence symbolic/identitarian” that I had to face with! It was like “yesterday’s ghosts desire to take their revenge by innocents” … In other way, it can be justified ongoing xenophobia exercised by such and such “identities” as if “right to do cruelty / right to take revenge” … reminding “Hitler’s speech” too! Anyway, past is Past…: take lessons and not forget and try to tolerate the cruelty but never stuck in it! Although that coast a huge coup in my idyllic life – academic carrier, I keep continue to “back to my life” that I used to… By trying to come back to my idyllic life – carrier, I had to rebegin from the beginning, my childhood period, such as tennis had a huge place in my childhood even though in Constantinople there were not any place to play tennis… I thereby could only watch it! Hence, Roland Garros and Wimbledon tennis tournament means a lot for me that I am so pleased to write something about tennis after many years…  

In two days, Roland Garros 2024 will be legally started as most of the tennis lovers looking forward to contemplating this gorgeous tennis tournament. When I examined the schedule of the first round in the men side, there is so interesting matches made feel like surveying final… Sure I am mentioning about the eventual Zverev – Nadal match which will be hold in the first round. In fact, this evidence reminds me Heraclitus time! Honestly, it seems to me so strange that time really flows circular – spiral… two years ago, Zverev suffered gruesome injury during his Roland Garros semifinal against Rafael Nadal therefore he was forced to retire and did not play again the rest of the season! Yet now both tennis player will be on the court again that really sounds like “back to the future”! In a word, Heraclitus time works perfectly! From now on I am already so exited to contemplate this gorgeous match which makes me feel like early final…

Besides that, Andy Murry and Stan Wawrinka will be meeting in the first round! That match probably will be reminded “oldies but goldies” clashes but also guaranteed the tennis intelligentsia on the court. In addition to that the matches of “magician of the court” Gael Monfils are always worth to watch! Although his way of playing tennis is so extra – ordinary, he should temperate the show with the serious, if he can manage to do it, there is nothing to stop him even his age which is just a biological factor and have no relate to physical performance even it can be engendered advantage as experience and as easily reading opponents’ game! So, it is always pleasured to watch him on the courts… And also, I would highly desire to watch the art of playing tennis of the invisible Jeremy Chardy and Pablo Carreño Busta– I even do not know if they get retired or not – ! According to schedule, I could not see their names! Anyhow, men side of the tournament seems so vivid – competitive – dynamic from the first round!

What about lady’s side?

 I am wondering the question on future candidate of legend after the wind of William sisters! In fact, I observe a non-sensical “curse” on lady’s side such as approximately every year championship is changing! In anyhow, I was thought that my favorite Gabriñe Muguruza and Angelique Kerber supposed to be next legend as the same as William sisters but unfortunately unexpected injury periods cut off their well-deserved future! Besides that, Svitolina’s back on the court makes me so happy! As she stresses that “she is also fighting for Ukraine”! Consequently, I could predict that Coco Gauf, Iga Swiatek and so on (sorry every time most of the lady tennis player changes so it is not easy to memorize their name!) have light to be next legend if there are not any “unexpected” moments!  

As a result, tennis is tennis which commingles everything inherent to daily – life…

NB: I really miss to listen Barbara Schett, Mats Wilander and of course John McEnroe’s comments on tennis… if you are related in tennis, I highly recommend listening to them that helps to improve your game!

NB: sometimes it would be better do not pursuit childhood dream! Or do “analyze it if the situation is the same or not!” And last one, whatever happens always protect your “soul” to not allow them to transfer non-sensical revenge / hate to you! In every condition keep do your crucial work for which you dedicate your life! I dedicate myself to writing and being sociologist and keep doing it!

“Little Prince” of the courts: Alex – Sascha Zverev

Do not know where to begin to describe Alex – Sacha Zverev’s history of return… Rise… Fall… Injury break… Must begin from the beginning… Adaptation… Try to find rhythm that he is used to play… Come back… Try to not to think about the injury moment when he was so focused and managed to develop his art of play tennis… Finally reach the level where he was before the injury… This evidence is illustrated at the end of match by his speech: “The last two years have been extremely difficult… coming from injury that I did not know if I ever going to be on this stage regardless of winning or losing so this moment is extremely special!”

In addition to this, Zverev never gives up asking himself “what does make different me among the other players?” reminding Little Prince’s discourse on his rose “what makes different my rose to the others which are similar to each other” … That is the milestone of getting up from the bottom to the top: to recognize your specificity….

Finally, today he has proved his return by crowing it well-deserved champion triumph in Rome 2024…
